Password Safe for safely storing all your passwords

Safely store, organize and manage all your passwords with one simple little utility – Password Safe. Instead of remembering dozens of passwords, remember just one. Just a few of the items that you can store for a single password are Title, Username, Password, URL and Notes. You can organize them into Groups, create your passwords manually or let the program create the password for you according to a predefined password policy that you control. I use Roboform for online passwords but I wouldn’t think of relying on anything else but Password Safe for the security of all my many passwords and user names. Best of all, it’s open source so it’s FREE.

What about using an online password manager, like Mitto (http://mitto.com)? It’s free and easy to use, and you can use it from any computer/browser.

No doubt it’s convenient. But can you guarantee that the site won’t go down? Can you guarantee that the site is secure and won’t get hacked? Can you guarantee who on that site has access to your passwords? No, my passwords are way too important to ever trust storing them on some website. Heck, I won’t even store them on my own web site unless the web server is sitting next to me. Better safe than sorry.
