Needed to clean up my hard drives and wanted to start with the largest folders to see if there was anything I could eliminate. Unfortunately XP doesn’t incorporate any means to easily scan your folders according to their size. However there is a nice little plugin appropriately named folder size that will do the job nicely. And did I mention that it’s FREE?
After downloading and installing, open an explorer window, go to View>Choose Details and put a check next to the new Folder Size entry. Now you can easily sort the window contents by clicking the top of the Folder Size column.
Folder Size sets it’s self up as a Windows service and as such consumes some memory. So if you’re computer is lean on memory, I would suggest going to Start>Run>services.msc and setting the folder size service to manual so you can start and stop only as needed. Enjoy, Folder Size.
NOTE: Folder Size does NOT work with Vista or Windows 7.

It’s relatively new and it’s database is limited but at least it’s a start.
Seems the scammers/slammers/spammers and attackers are getting quite good at SEO. So much so they’re beating Google at it’s own game. This isn’t just bad news for those directly affected it’s looking bad for all of us. Read more here….

Safely store, organize and manage all your passwords with one simple little utility – Password Safe. Instead of remembering dozens of passwords, remember just one. Just a few of the items that you can store for a single password are Title, Username, Password, URL and Notes. You can organize them into Groups, create your passwords manually or let the program create the password for you according to a predefined password policy that you control. I use Roboform for online passwords but I wouldn’t think of relying on anything else but Password Safe for the security of all my many passwords and user names. Best of all, it’s open source so it’s FREE.
